Q&A: How many potatoes are in 1.2 kilogram?

How many potatoes are in 1.2 kilo I’d like to make the latkes you featured. Thanks

[amazonify]B002UG4UM6:right[/amazonify]Thank you for your question.

Because potatoes vary in size, and because weight is a more accurate measure and easier to scale, I give my ingredients in weights wherever I can. Figure 1.2 kilo is about two and a half pounds, or maybe 8-10 potatoes, starting from the largest in the bag. It’s hard to tell because I don’t know the potatoes you’re using.

I recommend buying an inexpensive digital scale for your kitchen. You’d be surprised at how quickly things go when you use it. Here’s an earlier article that I wrote on kitchen scales.

  1. Thanks for the latka recipe.. I shared it with my Facebook chevra.. wayyyy before I joined your site.. found it through Jewish Express and hit share. LOTS of folks of all 'persuasion' including the very skinny and fat averse in food tried it…. apparently. Me too.. although this year I only had to look after moi and I did all mine with zucchini and occasionally white onions :).. chag sameach as we conclude the deliciousness this weekend of Chanukah.
